Play: Then and Now

In class, I had seen a fantastic ted talk regarding the decline of play over the past few years.  This is due to how people are focusing more on school and working rather than having fun at a young age.  As a result, according to the speaker, Peter Gray, has lead to a great increase with mental disorders as people aren’t able to socialize more in public.  In addition, it doesn’t allow people to prepare more for future endeavors as people aren’t able to go through ‘simulations’ of it at a younger age through play.  With this, it is being pushed that play be a major part in a child’s life.  Hopefully, through Peter Gray’s work, play can finally be emphasized more in life these days.
